James Madison University is committed to preparing students to learn, to grow and to lead. The on-campus International Study Center (ISC) is part of the supportive community that makes up the Madison Experience.
Foundation for degree success
The ISC provides customized language and academic preparation programs which give international students the exact foundation necessary to achieve academic success on a James Madison University degree.
The International First Year program and the Pre-Master’s Program offer a pathway to this top-ranking public university in the USA for international students who do not meet English level entry requirements.
Assured progression to James Madison University
Enrolling into the International First Year program or the Pre-Master’s Program gives you the security of knowing that you have satisfied the academic requirements for admission and have received a conditional offer of a university place. In addition, your I-20 form is issued by the university and is valid for the entire duration of your studies.
Once you have successfully completed your English preparation course and have met the required English entry standards, you will proceed directly to your preferred Bachelor’s degree program or Master’s degree program.
Integrate into campus life
You will be fully enrolled at James Madison University and can enjoy all the advantages of living on campus. Lessons are taught on campus in James Madison University classrooms and your accommodation is on campus as well.
A comprehensive range of academic facilities are available to you, as well as extracurricular activities which allow you to get to know your American classmates. You are expected to communicate entirely in English, and such total immersion in the campus environment will be invaluable for your future studies.
Teaching quality and personal attention
You will be taught by specialists in preparation for American universities. Your academic preparation and English classes are taught by qualified TESOL teachers. Your academic credit-bearing courses are taught by University faculty, but in smaller classes than the normal Freshman curriculum, and with built-in specialized support for international students.
